Do Instagram Creators Earn A Lot? Arvind Sunder's Funny And Honest Answer

"How are you riding such a bad bike? We thought you had money."

On the Accompany Akki podcast, comedian and content creator Arvind Sunder spoke with host Akash Kumar about his craziest fan moments and the gap between online fame and real income.

Fame doesn't always mean money

According to Arvind:

• People often assume recognised creators are rich.
• Fans have asked him why he rides a Pulsar instead of a car.
• Some expected him to have a car like popular YouTuber Sourav Joshi.
• Many believe Instagram pays creators directly for videos. In his experience, it doesn't work that way.
• Being recognised doesn't mean your career is earning steadily.

The Pulsar moment

Once, while a fan was excitedly showing his friends who he was, Arvind was pushing his Pulsar from behind to jump-start it, because the self-start had stopped working.

His craziest fan stories

The broken eggs
A delivery worker got so excited seeing him that he dropped a tray of eggs, asked for a selfie, and then begged him not to complain.

The demanding fan
At a chai stall, a man called him over for a photo, told him not to put his hand on his shoulder, and then insisted he reshare the photo.

The auto driver
After a World Cup final, when no auto would take them, a driver who was a fan drove him and a friend home, about 8 to 10 km. He refused payment and asked for a photo to put on the back of his auto.

Many of his biggest fans are blue-collar workers

Arvind says many of his most enthusiastic fans are blue-collar workers who recognise him on the road and at tea stalls.

How do creators actually earn?

This section is general context, not from the conversation. Most creators earn through a mix of:

• Brand collaborations and sponsorships
• Live shows and events
• Platform programmes where available
• Their own products or services

Views alone rarely provide stable income.

Key takeaways

• Online fame doesn't automatically mean financial success.
• Many creators struggle financially despite recognition.
• Fans can show remarkable kindness.
• Sustainable creator careers need multiple income streams.
• Don't judge anyone's life by their online presence.
