Geetu Parmar On Celebrity Astrology, Ramayana Casting And Fear-Selling

Geetu Parmar On Celebrity Astrology, Ramayana Casting And Astrologers Who Sell Fear

"An astrologer is only the Google Map of your life. They can show you the road. Whether you walk it is up to you."

On the Accompany Akki podcast, astrologer Geetu Parmar spoke with host Akash Kumar about her fees, why she believes emotional connection matters more than star power in mythological films, her views on a few celebrities, and why astrologers who trade on fear should be avoided.

What does a celebrity astrologer charge?

Geetu was open about her fees:

• Online sessions: Rs 5,100 for an hour, and she takes a maximum of five or six a day
• Offline sessions: Rs 51,000, limited to about two a day, mostly with celebrities

For someone who can't afford it, she said, even Rs 5,100 is a lot. For those who can, it's nothing. She also chooses whom to meet in person. If something inside tells her not to take a session, she doesn't.

Faith versus star power in mythological films

Geetu believes mythological films succeed when people feel emotionally connected, not because of big budgets or big names.

She pointed to Hanuman Ansh, which she said was made on a small budget, around Rs 2 crore by her account, and still connected deeply with audiences. In her view, it worked because it presented events in a grounded, almost historical way, which made people want to visit Kainchi Dham and understand Neem Karoli Baba's life.

By contrast, she predicted that a big-budget Ramayana, however large its star cast, may struggle to reach people's hearts. This is her personal prediction.

Why the actor's image matters

Geetu's argument was about how audiences see actors.

For many viewers, she said, Arun Govil is still Shri Ram. When people have seen an actor in very different roles, it's harder to accept them as a deity. She said she personally finds it difficult to see Ranbir Kapoor as Ram after his roles in films like Animal and Barfi.

"These films aren't just films," she said. "They're the emotions of Sanatanis."

She also noticed small details at a screening event, like how a ceremonial bow was lifted casually. An ordinary viewer may not notice, she said, but a spiritual person will. Emotion has to show even in small gestures.

The Ramleela feeling

At the screening of another recent Ramayana film, in which Anjali Arora plays Sita, Geetu said the first 20 to 25 minutes felt like watching a Ramleela. Despite heavy VFX, she felt no connection with the characters.

Her advice for future productions: cast fresh faces for divine roles, so the audience meets the character first, not the actor's previous image. She cited the actor who played Krishna in the Mahabharat serial, who was a fresh face and was fully accepted.

Her celebrity observations

Asked about celebrities, Geetu shared a few of her readings and impressions. These are her personal views.

Ranveer Singh: She believes his career graph changed after the birth of his daughter Dua, and expects it to rise further after his second child. Even when things looked shaky, she said, she had predicted they would balance out.

Amitabh Bachchan: She lives close to his home and sees the crowds every Sunday when he comes out to greet fans. Even in his 80s, she said, he doesn't need to build connection, yet he does. "He cares."

Alia Bhatt: She sees a strong career ahead, crediting Alia's own effort rather than simply continuing a family legacy. "There's a softness in her," she said.

Karma travels with family

Geetu also shared a broader belief: sometimes we are good people, but knowingly or unknowingly our actions affect not just us but our whole family. In Kalyug, she said, results come back quickly.

Astrologers who sell fear

This was the part Geetu felt most strongly about.

"I've seen how astrologers make a joke of people's fear," she said.

She compared it to a doctor. If you go with a headache and a doctor says you have a brain haemorrhage, you'll pay anything. Some astrologers, she said, do the same with planets, which is part of why astrology gets dismissed as pseudoscience.

"Astrologers who are making people's fear their business should be ready to face the consequences," she said. "If you dig a pit for someone, you'll fall into it."

Refusing viral, harmful content

Geetu said she was once encouraged on a podcast to give a sensational remedy that would go viral. She refused.

"I didn't come to get reels cut," she said. "I don't need fake followers in millions. If I have 250 followers, they are my family. It's my duty to guide them correctly."

Other red flags she warned about:

• Public tantra promotions, even though tantra was traditionally a secret, private practice
• Selling items like sindoor with promises of guaranteed outcomes
• Potlis promising overnight wealth. "If they work, why aren't you rich?"

Karma beats remedies

"If remedies could change life that much, then don't work. Just do remedies every day and become a crorepati. It doesn't happen like that."

Her view: do your karma, and results will follow.

True daan is silent

Charity given with one hand should not be known to the other. Geetu criticised astrologers who publicise charity on occasions like Amavasya and then tell followers to copy them.

Ego and spirituality

"Where there is 'I', there is ego. And someone with ego can never be spiritual," she said.

Real knowledge makes people humble. Like the newly rich who flaunt jewellery, those with little knowledge tend to show off. Those who know deeply stay simple.

No planet is bad

On Shani's Sade Sati, Geetu said no planet is bad. Shani is slow, so the results of old actions arrive late, when we've forgotten them. "Shani Dev didn't forget," she said. He is the god of justice, delivering results.

Her classroom analogy: the same teacher teaches 40 students. Some come first, some fail. We don't blame the teacher.

Key takeaways

• Emotional connection matters more than budget in mythological films.
• Casting fresh faces can help divine roles feel authentic.
• Be wary of astrologers who sell fear or guaranteed results.
• Use astrology like a map, not a driver.
• Karma matters more than remedies.
• True charity and true spirituality are quiet.
